Introductions
With the arrival of our new principal, Brenda Lewis, the first order of business was to do introductions.

Personnel
Principal Lewis is interviewing and finalizing staffing for the following positions:
Classroom aide (HSA funded)
Guidance Aide
Counselor position
Front Office Data Clerk
Special ed aide

Principal Lewis will be mailing home information in the next week about the new teachers and classroom assignments.

The Learning Cottage
This summer MDT meeting was primarily called to discuss the placement of the new trailer, what classes it would be used for, and its ramifications on the playground.   When Murch ordered the new trailer, we thought it would go in the same general area as the old trailer.  Due to the size of the new trailer and permitting reasons, the least intrusive location would be on the Davenport side of the playground between the parking lot and soccer field.  Stopping the process of installing this trailer would have significant ramifications on space available for special subjects and the functioning of the library for several months.

The MDT felt at this stage it was wise to move forward with the new trailer, and to use it to house music in one classroom and OT/PT and the reading specialist in the other one.   Special ed will either be located in the former music room or art will move to the music room, leaving the art room available for special ed.  There is a chance that the new trailer will not be completely ready for the start of school, so music will share space with library until the building is ready.

Tracy Stannard has come up with a brilliant plan to relocate the kickball field and to make general improvements to the playground (moving the dumpster, relocating parking spaces by the main entrance, and improvements to the basketball area).  Because we are losing some play space, Murch is looking into getting DCPS facilities to help us with replacing the swings as a concession.

Signed
P Joos
