As we write this, Julia Porter and the Rummage Sale Corps are sorting, pricing, and getting ready for the 3rd Annual Murch Rummage Sale this Saturday. Thank you to all the people who have donated great items. This has turned into one of our bigger fundraisers so we hope to see you there – either shopping, or helping out!

Susie Wertheimer, our hospitality chair, and Jen Closser, HSA Communication Chair, did a great job with Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week and we thank you both for your time on this. Murch is sad to be losing both Joan Timony and Ellen Walker as they retire this June. We will be having a retirement party in the Courtyard (36th street) on Sunday, June 10, from 3-5 pm. The whole Murch Community is invited to celebrate these dedicated and great teachers. Please invite any neighbors who may have been students of theirs in the past.

Parent-Teacher Conferences are tomorrow. Teachers work straight through without a break, so please be mindful of the time limits, and perhaps bring a healthy snack or cool drink for them. Have a good weekend!

Shop til you drop!! Our annual Rummage Sale is this Saturday, May 19 from 8 am–1 pm at the Murch gym. Come choose from our selection of gently (and not so gently) used books, furniture, children’s clothes, baby gear, electronics, toys, and tons of household items. You know you need another knick-knack!! All proceeds go to support our wonderful school.

Registration for Murch Extended Day SY 07- 08. The program has been filled for all grade levels. We are continuing to build the wait list for grades 1-4 only. Forms are still available on the HSA table.

2007-2008 Murch Cheerleading Try-outs. Do you like to cheer, dance, and tumble? Open to upcoming 4th thru 6th grade (Girls and Boys) May 21-24, at 3:30-5:30 pm, in the Murch gym. Wear loose fitting t-shirt, shorts, and comfortable tennis shoes. Cheerleading packets will be sent home Thursday in the students folders. Any questions please contact Coach Reed at 309.1999.

Wanted: Soccer Cleats & Jerseys for Ethiopia. Stoddert Soccer League Travel Director Kate Samsot and DC Stoddert travel coach Mohan Telfer head to Addis Ababa to train Ethiopian youth soccer coaches in June, and would like to collect outgrown jerseys and cleats for Ethiopian players. Former Murch students Hollie and Quintus Cunningham are taking collections at their house (if no one is home, there's a screened porch in back that's open) at 3922 Jenifer Street, NW.
