Home and School Association: The Murch HSA is a voluntary member organization for parents and staff. It is a member of the citywide congress of PTAs. Dues are $15.00 per family. In addition, parents are asked to make a voluntary contribution. on a per child basis,that goes towards the salaries of HSA hired personnel (see below).

The HSA dues and personnel contributions combined with monies raised through a variety of HSA fundraising activities help pay for the following:

• Six Classroom Aides, a full-time Reading Specialist

• Part-time guidance aide

• Stipends for faculty to use for classrooms/supplies

• Resource materials (music, art, library, and physical education)

• Playground and office equipment

• Publication of the Murch School Directory

• Maintenance and improvement of school grounds and building

• Special school-wide events and programs

• Other support as needed and/or voted upon by membership-at-large.

The Murch parent body annually elects an HSA Executive Committee, with a teacher representatives elected by the teachers. The HSA meets a minimum of 4 times per year, but usually monthly, with all forums announced in the newsletter.

All parents and teachers are invited to attend. Suggestions for agenda items, or floor time, should be addressed to the HSA at least one week prior to any meeting. Meeting dates and agendas will be posted on the page.

Here are some of our events that are upcoming!

Book Fair: The book fair is held the last week in November. All books are new and excellent quality. Parents are welcome any time the fair is open, but there is always at least one evening when the Fair is open specially for parents to do holiday shopping. The Book Fair allows parents to purchase books for their child’s classroom and the school library too. Twenty five percent of the proceeds go to HSA in support of the school.

Auction: The most anticipated event by Murch parents, this is a fun “grown-up” party with good food, drink, entertainment, great company and lots of items available in both silent and live auctions. The auction is usually held on a Saturday night in Spring, at a glamorous, off-site location.

Other: Other fundraising events may be held throughout the year. Parent suggestions are always welcome.
