The Home and School Association (HSA) plays a vital role at Murch. First and foremost, it is the organization that facilitates parent participation at the school and provides opportunities for parents to be meaningfully involved in their child’s education.

Second, the HSA directly supports school programs and initiatives. The HSA annually finances over $200,000 worth of classroom support, school activities, facilities improvements, and other efforts. This is achieved through a host of fundraising initiatives, including the fall Support-Our-School (SOS) campaign and the spring auction.

Third, the HSA is a key force in building community at Murch. We sponsor both informal gatherings like Coffee on the Playground, and large annual events like the Fall Fair. We also produce a school directory, maintain the Murch website, and work with the principal to publish the school newsletter. In addition, we reach out to the broader community with activities like Safe Routes to School and Casey Tree planting.

Membership is open to all Murch families and staff. Annual dues, are $15 per family.

The HSA Executive Committee is composed of: officers who are elected annually by the membership; a teacher representative elected by the teachers; the principal; the immediate past president; and four committee chairs appointed by the co-presidents.

Events and Fundraisers: Murch holds a number of events throughout the year.

Shop for Murch: You can raise money for Murch every time you shop, sign up for escrips to raise money while you shop at Safeway, Giant, and your favorite on-line stores.

Volunteer: Volunteers make Murch a great school. Find an activity that suits your time and skills.
