Join the Murch School Safety Patrol
Did you know that many famous Americans have been school safety patrols, including former Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, five Supreme Court Justices, five Olympic Gold Medalists, and 21 astronauts?

- Increase the safety of all students
- Alleviate the morning traffic around our school
- Help make morning drop-off easier for your parents
- Raise the American flag on our playground
The Safety Patrol is part of Murch's nationally recognized Safe Routes to School Program. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are eligible to join.
What is required from student patrols?
- Participate in initial briefing with parent coordinators
- Participate in Swearing-In Ceremony to receive badge and safety sash
- Arrive to post at 8:25 am to usher Murch students to school
- Sign up for two mornings (or more) of duty
How can parents help?
- Volunteer to monitor the posts (Ellicott St. and Davenport St. entrances)
- Contribute hot chocolate, donuts, etc. when the weather gets cold.
- When driving children to school, obey the rules for safe drop-off procedures.
