Oct. 2: Movie Night

A Murch tradition: Bring your picnic blankets and lawn chairs and watch a movie with all you Murch friends! Pizza and popcorn will be for sale. Movie time and selection to be announced! Rain Date will be Saturday, Oct. 3. 

Oct. 7: Dine Out at Pete’s Pizza

Bring your friends to Pete’s Pizza and help raise money for Murch! Pete’s will donate 25% of profits to the Murch HSA. Orders must be made directly through the store (not through third-party apps) and apply to all dine in and carry out orders.

Oct. 17: Fall Fair 

A full day of fun and friends at the Murch Fall Fair. Stay tuned for volunteer opportunities and ticket sales.

Mr. Kenny brings more than a decade of experience in education, serving as a teacher, district leader, and school administrator, all with a focus on helping every student succeed. Most recently, he served as Assistant Principal at Bancroft, where he led the school’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), partnering with teachers to strengthen instruction, improve student outcomes, and ensure students received the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports they needed to thrive.

Prior to returning to school leadership, Mr. Kenny spent several years with DC Public Schools’ Central Office, where he supported schools across the district in mathematics instruction, inclusive education, instructional coaching, and leadership development.

He began his career as a middle school math and special education teacher, experiences that continue to shape his belief that all students can achieve at high levels when provided with the right support. Mr. Kenny earned master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education from Lesley University.

Throughout his career, he has remained committed to creating inclusive learning environments, coaching educators, using data to drive continuous improvement, and building strong partnerships with students, families, and staff. As a leader, Mr. Kenny believes that relationships are the foundation of every successful school. He is passionate about supporting teachers, partnering with families, celebrating student growth, and fostering a school culture where every child feels known, valued, and challenged to reach their full potential.

• The packet only needs to be completed once per school year, as long as the Health Certificate is unexpired.
• Once you submit, please forward the Seamless Docs confirmation to Murch.Athletics@k12.dc.gov(opens in new tab). This helps us track who has submitted and helps Murch assist in the process of getting packets cleared

With more than 15 years of experience in education, including five years as Murch’s Assistant Principal, Mr. Hawkins has played a key role in strengthening instruction, student support, and family engagement. He is committed to fostering a safe and supportive environment where students, staff, and families feel valued and able to succeed.

The interim position is a one-year appointment, and DCPS will engage the Murch community in a full principal selection process in Spring 2027.
