Murch Auction 2021
Chasing Our Rainbow
Our volunteers are working hard to make this year’s auction great. We plan to be ready for online bidding on March 20, 2021, but stay tuned because we hope to preview a few items ahead of auction night. Last year the online auction turned out to be a great success, earning over $85,000 for the school – that has helped pay for teacher appreciation, after school programs and gift cards for families in need, and funding consulting services to close the racial achievement gap. While the auction format and items may be different this year, we hope to repeat our success and earn money for the 2021-22 school year.
Why Chasing Our Rainbow? Rainbows are a symbol of hope, thanks and solidarity. We have weathered this COVID storm together and we are so close to our rainbow! Additionally we are changing up the auction this year. Normally, we rely on many local businesses to donate auction items, but this year, we are exploring additional options supported by Murch families and here is how you can help.
-
Support a local Business: Buy a gift card from a local restaurant/business and donate the gift card to the Murch Auction. This is a quick and easy way to support our local merchants and Murch!
-
Getaways & Outings: Everyone is looking to get away for a break! Could you offer a weekend or week-long stay at a second home? A day out on your kayak? Travel points you’ll never use?
-
VIP experiences (virtual/in-person): What about a behind the scenes tour of your cool workplace? Who’s in your network? Maybe you know someone in the media, arts or sports who can offer a behind the scene look at the zoo, a tv station, a sports complex, even a restaurant kitchen. Covid safe experiences, please.
-
Share Your Talents through RAINBOW CONNECTIONS: Maybe your hobby is brewing beer, sourdough baking, photography, home decor, gardening or knitting…include an item or service for bid. Check out the ideas and sign up for one that matches your particular interests/abilities. Here are some examples:
- Offer to host kids for a fireside chat with s’mores while their parents can have 2 hours to themselves!
-
Have a projector? Host a socially distant movie night with a few kids.
-
Offer a one-off or monthly delivery (baked treat, science project, craft project)
-
Coffee Cab: Pick up & deliver someone’s coffee order for a week
-
Help plan a family’s vacation itinerary to a place you know well
-
Cook a date night dinner
- Donate items you may already have: Do you have a bottle of vintage bourbon or good wine? Restaurant gift cards?
