Murch Needs You–Volunteer for the HSA & LSAT

Dear Murch families,

Murch needs you! Nominations for the 2022-2023 Murch Home and School Association (HSA) Executive Board are open.

The Murch HSA has really stepped up to support teachers, staff and students as we transition into our new normal after two years of turmoil.  It wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of a team of parent volunteers.  To keep our momentum and to explore new avenues of service to our community, the HSA Nominating Committee is seeking a dedicated group of parent leaders.  Can you step up to help the HSA support Murch staff and faculty as they strive to help all students reach their potential?

Please consider getting involved. The following HSA positions are open to nominations  (each is a two year term):

• First Vice President

• Second Vice President

• Communications Chair

• Assistant Treasurer (payables)

• Assistant Treasurer (receivables)

• Secretary

• Nominating Committee (this is a one year term)

Descriptions of each of these positions are as follows:

Vice President: The job of the VP is to help coordinate and execute events at Murch, including movie nights, teacher appreciation events, teacher grants, and open house tours.

Secretary: The job of the secretary is to attend every monthly HSA meeting, circulate the agenda for each meeting, and take/publish minutes for every meeting. Secretaries also help facilitate and record any votes that are taken during meetings.

Assistant Treasurer (payables): This position is in charge of writing all checks that are needed for HSA business and also depositing checks and cash, as needed, such as during the SOS campaign. The assistant treasurer will also be in charge of cash collections, cash counting and cash depositing during on-site Murch events, including the Fall Fair, movie nights, and other events.

Assistant Treasurer (receivables): This position is in charge of making all purchase requests online via the Murch HSA credit card. Generally, this person needs to be able to make phone calls during working hours for about 30 minutes once a week. Otherwise, duties are primarily over the internet and can be done when convenient.  This position requires access to a personal computer and internet connection.

Nominating Committee: The Nominating Committee is tasked with preparing a slate of HSA Executive Board and LSAT candidates for the following school year (2022-2023). This is a one year position.

Please note, we are also seeking a parent representative for the Local School Advisory Team (LSAT).  Information for interested parents will be available next week.

All parents interested in being considered for nomination should please email murchnominations@gmail.com by 5PM on Friday, May 27, 2022, to express your interest.  In your email, please let us know a little about you, including your connection to Murch and in what position you might be interested.

The elections for HSA officers will be held in a virtual meeting on Tuesday, June 7, at 7PM.
