What an incredible community we have! To be honest, it takes everyone’s participation to keep our school activities humming. Would you please consider helping Murch by joining the Home and School Association (HSA) Executive Board or Local School Advisory Team (LSAT)?
Nominations for the 2023-24 school year are open! Parent volunteers are essential to supporting Murch staff and faculty in helping all students reach their potential.
The following HSA and LSAT positions are open to nominations. Each position is a two-year term, unless noted below.
- HSA Co-President
- HSA Treasurer
- Nominating Committee (one-year term)
- LSAT Parent Representatives (one-year term)
Role Descriptions
HSA Co-President: The job of the co-president is to lead the HSA Executive Board and oversee the day-to-day operations of the HSA. The co-presidents are responsible for leading monthly board meetings, overseeing decisions, managing committee chairs, signing contracts and purchase requests, and working closely with the Murch administration to meet the needs of the school.
HSA Treasurer: The job of the treasurer is to supervise the receipt and disbursement of all funds of the HSA. The treasurer maintains current records reflecting all funds of the HSA and the financial condition of the HSA, and submits reports to the board on a monthly basis.
Nominating Committee: The Nominating Committee is tasked with preparing a slate of HSA Executive Board and LSAT candidates for the following school year (2024-25). This is a one-year position.
LSAT Parent Representatives: The LSAT (Local School Advisory Team) is an elected and appointed body that is mandated for every DCPS school. It consists of Murch parents, staff, and community members and advises the principal on matters of school policy. The purpose of the LSAT is to promote high expectations and high achievement for all students through strong partnerships between families and the school. Each year, the LSAT provides input into the creation of the school budget, serving as a sounding board for the principal. The LSAT aims to help surface concerns and ideas of the school community by bringing them to the attention of school leadership. This is a one-year position.
