Hello Murch Families,
Below are a few reminders with specifics that were not previously sent.
PARENT ORIENTATION EVENINGS
This event will take place in the gym and anyone attending needs to enter through the main doors on Davenport. Please remember to wear a mask. Chairs in the gym will be spaced appropriately to ensure adequate social distancing. Hopefully, by the time these meetings happen, DCPS will have finalized its health guidance it receives from DCHealth. I believe DCHealth has released their recommendations, however, to date, DCPS has not shared those with us.
The orientation sessions will provide an overview of what the school day will look like, arrival and dismissal, the daily schedule, etc. and review the safety precautions we are taking as our students come back to in-person learning. I am going to do my absolute best to make sure the technology is working correctly. This will be both an in person and live streamed event. There will be ample time for Q and A.
Schedule:
Tuesday, August 17, 7:00-8:00pm Kindergarten and First grades
Wednesday, August 18, 7:00-8:00pm Second and Third grades
Thursday, August 19, 7:00-8:00pm Fourth and Fifth grades
CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENTS
Classroom assignments have gone out. If you have enrolled and it has been verified and have not received notice of teacher assignment, please email MurchClassPlacement@gmail.com.
A great deal of intentional work was part of the process teachers followed in crafting balanced class rosters at the end of the last school year. I respectfully ask that you give our placement decision time to work. If your child’s class placement is causing you concern, please share this with the teacher of record. I have faith in my teachers and teams to do the job of addressing the needs of every student. If after the first 3 weeks you are finding that the placement is not working, and your child has not found success, please speak with your child’s teacher to determine if a solution is possible. I will get involved in placement decisions only after this process has been followed and I have a chance to speak with the teacher.
IMPORTANT REMINDER – Please complete the student profile sheet that was included in your teacher placement welcome letter.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at chris.cebrzynski@k12.dc.gov. I will be in touch within 72 hours.
