The Murch boys and girls basketball teams focus on skill-building and learning through competition against other DC elementary schools. Basketball season is November through February. Practices are held twice a week. Home games are played at Murch in the gym.

The team showed great resilience in their DC-wide quarterfinal playoff game, cutting a 25-15 deficit to 25-23 with a minute left in the game, before just falling a bit short. All 15 members of the team contributed to the team's success throughout the year, including Kingston Archer, Max Bous, Cooper Birgfeld, Louis Diedrich, Corey Edwards, Quinn Harrington, Louis Piper, Gavin Segal, Sammy Sexton, Harrison Stallard, Amos Tama, Bryce Tobias, Cory Walker, Teddy Wallsten, and Camryn Wray.

The boys team, comprised of Kingston Archer, Max Bous, Cooper Birgfeld, Louis Diedrich, Corey Edwards, Quinn Harrington, Louis Piper, Gavin Segal, Sammy Sexton, Harrison Stallard, Amos Tama, Bryce Tobias, Cory Walker, Teddy Wallsten, and Camryn Wray, finished the regular season with a record of 4-1. The team is looking forward to the start of the playoffs after the February break!
The girls team completed their amazing regular season on February 14th with a 24-2 win over Savoy. The girls have worked extremely hard to finish UNDEFEATED at 6-0!

Congratulations to the Murch boys team for winning their first regular season game on Jan. 18, 2022!
Our team played Dorothy Height Elementary School and won the game 25-13. Many players contributed to the team's success, by playing strong defense, grabbing rebounds, making good passes, stealing the ball, and cheering for each other. In terms of our team's scoring, Kingston Archer scored 12 points, Teddy Wallsten scored 11 points, and Cory Walker scored 2 points.
The boys played very hard and showed a lot of good teamwork and basketball skill. While spectators are not permitted currently at athletic programming at our school, we'll keep cheering on our Mustangs remotely!
In December 2021, the HSA purchased tickets for the the Murch girls team to attend a game at AU. The Mustangs played a mini-game during half-time!
