Volunteer with the HSA
The HSA relies on parents and caregivers to help organize community-building events, fundraisers, teacher and staff appreciation, and more.
We welcome all new and returning Murch families to get involved. Whether you want to organize one of our annual events or have a few hours to join for a classroom event, all help is valued and appreciated!
Volunteer opportunities include:
- Room Parents for each classroom
- Support for HSA events including the Fall Fair, Movie Night, the Auction, Staff Appreciation Lunches and more
- Collect, pack, and distribute food for Murch's Food Pantry
- Organize and Lost and Found
- Solicit donations or decorate for the annual Murch Auction

Field Trip Chaperones
If you are interested in chaperoning class field trips, DCPS requires background checks for ALL parent chaperones. It is a simple and easy process:
1) Complete the DCPS Clearance Application.
2) After you submit your DCPS Clearance Application you will receive an email with a link to instructions to use to schedule and complete a FieldPrint appointment for fingerprinting. FieldPrint appointments can be made quickly and easily at many UPS stores across the city.
3) Once you complete FieldPrint appointment, you will receive a letter from DCPS which should be sent to Mary Eckstein, Murch's Director of Strategy & Logistics.
4) And now you are all set for two whole years!
