Safety of our students and staff is a top priority. In case of emergency Murch has evacuation plans, lock-down procedures, and monthly drills.
Emergency Communication
Emergency information will be communicated to families as quickly as possible via multiple means: Twitter @MurchSchool, robocall, and email. Please make sure your contact information is up-to-date by visiting the Welcome Center.
Lock-down procedures
In case of a threat in or around school, Murch has lock-down procedures, which are practiced twice yearly. During lock-down, students and teachers shelter-in-place in the classroom out of the line of site.
Evacuation
Our evacuation site is St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 4900 Connecticut Avenue, NW or Deal Middle School if we require evacuation to a greater distance. Students will ONLY be released to parents, caregivers or emergency contacts listed on enrollment forms.
Drills
Murch completes monthly fire drills and twice yearly severe weather drills. This includes participation in the annual Great Shakeout Drill to practice in case of an earthquake.
Rave Panic Button App
Beginning in SY 2019-20, Murch will be utilizing the Rave Panic Button app to shorten response time and improve safety for all those in the immediate area.
