At Murch Elementary, we believe in the power of community and the importance of ensuring every family has access to the essentials they need to thrive.
We are proud to partner with the DC Food Project, a local nonprofit organization working to reduce food insecurity in Washington, D.C. Through this collaboration, Murch supports initiatives that help provide food and resources to families in need—right here in our school community.
How It Works:
- Weekly Food Programs: With support from the DC Food Project, Murch offers Weekend Bags filled with non-perishable food for students to take home every Friday.
- Pantry Support: Families can discreetly access additional food resources through our partnership.
- Volunteer-Driven: This effort is powered by dedicated parents and community volunteers who collect, pack, and distribute food items.
This partnership not only addresses immediate needs but also fosters empathy, kindness, and connection among our students and families.
Get Involved: We welcome volunteers throughout the school year to help us load the food pantry. To learn more or support this important work, please contact Lauren Miller (lauren.miller@k12.dc.gov).
