86 tickets to Badlands Playspace for all second graders. Total cost is $1,118 for 86 student tickets ($13 each).
Children learn through repetition which explains why they ask to have the same book read over and over and over! This is how their brains “absorb” stories and language patterns. When children are read the same book multiple times, they often remember and retain the meaning of new words. It’s also exciting for a child to hear a story so many times they can anticipate what’s coming next and may even be able to repeat the story.
I asked the parents to talk with their children and identify two books that the children have read many times. The parents sent in the titles and we selected one for each child. The children’s picture will be placed in the front with short narrative that describes their reason for selecting the book.
The cd player and book sets provide another way for the children to hear a story multiple times.

This is a quote for Apple i-pads (for student use) and other technology. This is to come out of the board-approved new technology line item of $25,000. We received quite a few student laptops that we've deployed to older grades, so we are focusing this money on i-pads for younger student use.
The contact person for the quote is Heloisa Sperandio at 512-674-2166 and heloisa_sperandio@apple.com.
She said that you have to input the credit card through the apple account that the quote is under, so you may need to work with Regina Bell (Librarian) to finalize the purchase through her account. If you can set a time with her to enter payment via credit card, that would probably be the easiest path to finalize.

Ranger Rick Jr magazine subscriptions for all Kindergarten classes! You need to call to order - I was told for classrooms it is $10 per child for the year. (We need to pause the subscription over the summer). Each class needs 20 magazines each month. They can all be sent to me, or to each K teacher. Should be $200 per class x5.

Artelabs Math Competition.
I am seeking pre-approval of about $225 to fund a math club. This is exactly the same club we had last fall. Student teams compete weekly online against other student teams across the nation. The last few weeks (Nov. and Dec.) is a bracketed competition. Last year we placed 20th with one student in the top 100. I do not need the $ now, I just want to make sure it's approved for this year. It will be open to any 4th or 5th grade. If we end up with more than 20 players the price will be higher. Up to 40 players is $295. Kindly let me know if you can fund this .
