Principal Hawkins is pleased to introduce our new Assistant Principal, Christophe
r Kenny, to the Murch Family!
Mr. Kenny brings more than a decade of experience in education, serving as a teacher, district leader, and school administrator, all with a focus on helping every student succeed. Most recently, he served as Assistant Principal at Bancroft, where he led the school’s Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), partnering with teachers to strengthen instruction, improve student outcomes, and ensure students received the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports they needed to thrive.
Prior to returning to school leadership, Mr. Kenny spent several years with DC Public Schools’ Central Office, where he supported schools across the district in mathematics instruction, inclusive education, instructional coaching, and leadership development.
He began his career as a middle school math and special education teacher, experiences that continue to shape his belief that all students can achieve at high levels when provided with the right support. Mr. Kenny earned master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education from Lesley University.
Throughout his career, he has remained committed to creating inclusive learning environments, coaching educators, using data to drive continuous improvement, and building strong partnerships with students, families, and staff. As a leader, Mr. Kenny believes that relationships are the foundation of every successful school. He is passionate about supporting teachers, partnering with families, celebrating student growth, and fostering a school culture where every child feels known, valued, and challenged to reach their full potential.
