On Thursday, February 15th, Murch celebrated Read for Black History!
As part of the program, members of the Divine Nine historically African American Greek-letter sororities and fraternities joined us as guest readers. They visited classrooms and read books as part of the nationwide observance of Black History Month.
The books selected for Read for Black History at Murch celebrated the triumphs and rich cultural heritage of African American people spanning centuries.
Our students also sang several songs under the direction of Murch music teacher Dr. Eugene Branch, including “Lift Every Voice and Sing” and enjoyed a step performance by the Beta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. of Howard University. Thank you to Dr. Branch and our resource team for coordinating our Black History Month assembly at Murch.
