Back to School Night for grades K-5 will be held on Thursday, August 28 from 6-7:30PM! Don’t miss this opportunity to visit your student’s classroom and hear from their teacher(s).

Back to School Night Schedule:

6:05-6:15PM: Welcome Remarks from Mr. C and Mr. Hawkins (gym)
6:20-6:50PM: Session 1 (in the classrooms)
6:55-7:25PM: Session 2 (in the classrooms)

**Sessions 1 and 2 have the same content.  Please go to the session that works best for your schedule.

Free childcare will be available from 6:00–7:25PM, provided by Murch staff and aftercare program staff for Murch students and their siblings. Children can choose from a variety of activities:

• Pre-K & Grades K–1 (plus Pre-K-aged siblings):Movie and arts & crafts in the Pre-K/K Commons
• Grades 2–5:Movie and arts & crafts in the cafeteria, or active games in the gym
• Students with specialized learning needs:Activities in a classroom in the Pre-K hallway with Murch staff

Note: There will be a separate Back to School Night for Pre-K families on Thursday, September 18.

Murch’s Sneak Peek is happening tomorrow – Friday, August 22, from 1:30–3:00PM.

This a great opportunity for students in grades K–5 to:

• Visit their new classroom(s)
• Meet their teacher(s)
• Drop off school supplies before the first day of school

In addition to the Sneak Peek, Murch will be hosting a series of welcome events tomorrow to help students and families ease into the new school year:

• 12:00PM – Meet Your Teachers: All multilingual learners (ML), special education students, and students with IEP accommodations are invited to meet their teachers and/or case managers.
• 1:30–1:50PM – Pre-K4 Mini Orientation: Pre-K4 families are invited to the Commons for a brief orientation. This is the only event for Pre-K4 during the Sneak Peek tomorrow; classroom visits and conferences will be held next week.
• 2:00–2:20PM – New Family Meet & Greet: Principal Cebrzynski and Assistant Principal Hawkins will welcome new families in the Commons.

Girls in grades 3-5 are invited to join the fall season of Girls on the Run. This is our 26th season at Murch!
Girls on the run inspires girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.  We will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:15-4:30 starting on September 16th. Our season will end with a 5K on November 23rd.

Families MUST register online at www.gotrdc.org by September 2nd. We are able to have 20 girls on the team. GOTR will hold a lottery on September 3rd and notify families.

If your 4th or 5th grade student is interested in participating in an official DCIAA sport(s) this year— 

• Fall: Cross Country
• Winter: Basketball
• Spring: Track & Field

• The packet only needs to be completed once per school year.
• Clearance is valid for the entire year (or until the health form expires).
• Submit forms as early as possible, ideally before school starts, since the clearance process can take time.

The Murch Online Directory is the easiest way for families to stay in touch and connect with our school community. The directory is available to Murch families only, and you control what information is visible to others.
