If your 4th or 5th grade student is interested in participating in an official DCIAA sport(s) this year, you will need to complete the 2026–27 DCPS Student‑Athlete Participation Packet with an unexpired Universal Health Certificate. 

• Submit forms as early as possible, ideally before school starts, since the clearance process can take time.
• The packet only needs to be completed once per school year, as long as the Health Certificate is unexpired.
• Once you submit, please forward the Seamless Docs confirmation to Murch.Athletics@k12.dc.gov. This helps us track who has submitted and helps Murch assist in the process of getting packets cleared

Sports this applies to: 

• Fall: Cross Country
• Winter: Basketball
• Spring: Track & Field

Families with students entering Pre-K and kindergarten are invited to meet at Murch’s early childhood playground on the corner of 36th Street and Davenport Street for play dates before the school year begins.

Playdates will occur at 10AM on the following dates:

• PreK: Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 23, 2026

• Kindergarten: Sunday, August 16 and Saturday, August 22, 2026

Playdates are hosted by current Murch families and provide a great opportunity to meet other new students and families.

Calling All Rising Kindergarten and First Grade Families – We Need Volunteers to Host Pre-K and Kindergarten Playdates this summer!

Will you volunteer as a host? Hosts are current Murch families who are asked to greet new families as they arrive; provide handouts about the Murch Home and School Association (HSA); and bring name tags and markers.
